VetriScience Perio Support Dental Powder for Dogs and Cats

Like other reviews have stated, dogs really like the taste of this stuff. That’s half the battle ;-)I adopted a nine year old dachshund who appeared to have never seen a vet aside from obvious signs of previous pregnancy and a spray scar. Dachshund teeth are notoriously bad and her teeth were... green. They were rotting in her poor mouth. There is no product on the planet that can fix that aside from a professional dental cleaning from a vet. She had to have three teeth removed, which is not as bad as I thought it would be. I have three senior Labs, and their breath had gotten pretty overwhelming. Because of their age, I’m hesitant to put them under anesthesia for dental cleanings, so I decided to try this dental powder. I honestly didn’t expect much, I’ve always assumed these types of products were more hype than results.I was genuinely surprised. After about a week, I noticed their breath improving and the buildup on their teeth looking lighter. A few days later, I realized that when I brushed (or attempted to, they’re not exactly cooperative) or even gently scraped a bit with my fingernail, the buildup actually flaked off.

Have been using this on my small dachshunds for about a year now. I’m on my second bottle! It works for bad breath. When used consistently my dogs breath does not smell bad. I will say, it will not fully clean or keep plaque off if the dog already has dental issues. My oldest is going to be 14, she has had most of her teeth removed but we use this in between the cleanings and removals with the vet. I can’t brush them because her gums are sensitive. Also, once a dog has dental disease it is almost impossible to get rid of if you can’t keep up with consistent brushing, this does help to remove some bacteria and smell though

I got this for my cat who has signs of gingivitis. These supplements, brushing, and toothpaste, have absolutely made a positive impact on his teeth. He does not mind the addition of this to his food, he didn’t seem to notice. Its worth a try

Vetriscience is a 40 year old company that I typically trust. I purchased this for my 3-lb Pomeranian to use alongside the 1-TDC gel caps and daily brushing. However, I would not recommend using it for cats or very small dogs. The dosing can be tricky, and their smaller size makes them more vulnerable to potential side effects. If you research “natural zeolites,” you’ll find they are known for their ability to bind heavy metals such as arsenic and lead. Zeolites are naturally occurring minerals found in volcanic rock formations and marine sedimentary layers.

While it may be a great product. ALL my pets would not eat their food with this in it. Tried it on dogs and cats. Even just a sprinkle to get them used to it in the food didn't work in this house. It does have a pretty pungent smell. It was worth a try.

This has really made a difference in the amount of tartare on my dogs teeth. They don’t mind it added to their food so it’s easy to give. As I have several dogs I am especially happy to be able to order a larger size container so I don’t have to reorder as often!
